Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience in supplier relationship management, procurement, or supply chain operations
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, Outlook, Access, etc.)
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and problem-solving abilities
  • Beginning knowledge of ERP systems and supplier performance management tools
  • The ability to read and write small letters and numbers; the ability to make arithmetic calculations; and the ability to understand and follow written and oral instructions.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for monitoring, evaluating, and improving supplier performance to support Kimball Midwest’s operational and strategic goals.
  • Accountable for fostering strong supplier partnerships, ensuring adherence to quality and delivery standards, and driving value-added initiatives such as prepackaging or tailored services.
  • Tracks supplier performance metrics, including on-time delivery, cost updates, quality ratings, and adherence to Kimball Midwest’s operational standards ▪ Monitors trends in supplier performance over time to proactively identify potential risks or improvement opportunities
  • Collaborates with underperforming suppliers to develop corrective action plans and monitor progress toward resolution ▪ Creates and maintains supplier scorecards that consolidate performance data and communicate expectations clearly
  • Provides ongoing feedback to suppliers, identifying both areas of excellence and opportunities for growth
  • Leads cross-functional meetings with internal teams—including QA, Product Line, Category Management, Operations and Buyers—to align supplier performance and improvement goals
  • Acts as the primary point of contact for operational issues with suppliers, facilitating resolution and improving responsiveness
  • Conducts recurring business reviews with key suppliers to align metrics, service expectations, and strategic initiatives
  • Identifies and negotiates opportunities for value-added services such as digital connectivity (EDI/Vendor portal), prepackaging, labeling, or custom delivery programs
  • Analyzes supplier data to uncover trends in delivery, quality, and cost, and escalate key findings to Supplier Management leadership
