Tesla's Supplier Industrialization team plays a crucial role in the development and qualification of critical components at suppliers. This position requires effective communication with both internal and external teams, as well as the ability to travel to various suppliers across different regions. The role demands on-the-spot critical decision-making to ensure that high-quality component parts are delivered on time to Tesla's production processes, facilitating rapid development cycles and product launches. As a Supplier Industrialization Engineer, you will be responsible for planning, organizing, directing, and conducting industrialization-related activities within the supply chain team. This includes developing, managing, auditing, improving, and correcting supplier planning and execution of component manufacturing and assembly techniques, as well as quality control processes from the advanced development phase to mass production qualification. You will provide leadership for New Product Introduction (NPI) at suppliers and lead improvements in scalability, cost, and quality. Your role will also involve facilitating communication and clarifying technical requirements between suppliers and Tesla's Purchasing, Quality, and Design teams. You will be accountable for conducting supplier audits to ensure they meet part performance, delivery, and reliability expectations. Additionally, you will guide suppliers in developing robust processes and procedures to promote efficient and seamless production of high-quality products. Validating supplier corrective actions involving design and/or process changes will be essential to ensure they are robust and sustainable across manufacturing lines and suppliers. You will also provide input on new or alternative materials for improved design, manufacturability, or cost reduction.
