About The Position
This role will develop, implement, and maintain food safety and quality documents for items purchased by Simplot which includes suppliers of items purchased for global potato factories, avocado factories, and North American vegetables, and applicable co-packers. This is a collaborative position that interacts with suppliers, food safety and quality, procurement, research and development, and manufacturing plants to ensure documents are gathered, maintained, and easily retrievable to satisfy company, regulatory, audit, and customer requirements. This individual will directly interact with suppliers via e-mail, phone, or other electronic communication to ensure necessary documents are obtained and updated in accordance with Simplot requirements. The position may require travel to participate in meetings, conferences, and training events.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree (BA or BS) from 4-year college or university
- 1+ years related experience and/or training
- Good written and verbal communication skills are necessary.
Nice To Haves
- A good understanding of SharePoint, Oracle, SAP and proficient use of MS Word and MS Excel are desired.
Responsibilities
- Maintain the Simplot Supplier Index and other managed approved supplier registers, ensuring that any active approved supplier is identified on the list by manufacturing location with primary contact information and that any unapproved suppliers or suppliers that are no longer used are moved to archive and inactivated in the system.
- Coordinate document retrieval from proposed suppliers by contacting them and making requests for the documents. Once documents begin to filter in, post all documents to the supplier folder and promptly notify the Supplier Food Safety and Quality Manager so an assessment for supply approval can be conducted.
- Communicate with suppliers to request updated documents according to Simplot requirements. These documents will be posted to the appropriate supplier folder.
- Communicate with suppliers to request updated specifications according to Simplot requirements. Post these documents to the specification management system.
- Identify improvements and better ways of managing document retrieval, folder organization
- Actively participates in project meetings and ensures any action items are either carried out or elevated to Manager Supplier Food Safety and Quality.
