About The Position

Primary Function of Position This position reports to the Manager, Supplier Engineering, based in Sunnyvale, California. This position is part of NPI Supplier Engineering, supporting NPI projects. Essential Job Duties Review component quality and defects and determine the root cause. Use statistics to determine trending failures. Working with suppliers to address component quality issues. Use design software to measure parts attributes and diagnose issues. Design tooling to prevent defects and test products. Adapt industry manufacturing standards to medical applications. Apply modern technology to solve challenging problems in a manufacturing environment. Achieve product requirements by understanding design constraints.

Requirements

  • Self-motivated and resourceful.
  • Ability to manage multiple objectives and priorities concurrently.
  • Ability to collaborate with design engineers, quality engineers, and manufacturing engineers.
  • University Enrollment: Must be currently enrolled in and returning to an accredited degree-seeking academic program after the internship.
  • Internship Work Period: Must be available to work full-time (approximately 40 hours per week) during a 10-12 week period starting May or June. Specific start dates are shared during the recruiting process.
  • Current enrollment in an Electrical Engineering or related degree-seeking program at the Bachelor’s, or Master’s level.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Solidworks, ideally including large assembly work and experience with change control, is preferred.
  • Experience with suppliers or purchasing components is a plus.
  • Experience programming is a plus.
