Requirements
- Ability to audit welding procedures for code compliance and evaluate their functionality and effectiveness for the application
- Substantial experience in aluminum, stainless, and carbon steel welding with some knowledge in machining and fabrication. Knowledge of AWS codes and standards is required.
- Solves complex technical problems that have a broad impact on the business.
- Understanding and use of various problem-solving methodologies, such as 8D, six sigma, etc.
- Align project objectives to requirements of both internal and external customers.
- May lead project teams with moderate resource requirements, risk, and/or complexity to achieve milestone and objectives
- Keeps commitments while executing on multiple projects.
- Negotiates with others to adopt a different point of view
- Communicates technical concepts effectively to both technical and nontechnical audiences.
- 7+ years of experience in welding processes (GTAW, GMAW, EBW, LBW, etc.) and thermal cutting processes required.
- Experience with manual, semi-automated, and automated welding processes and systems.
- Must possess a strong knowledge of metallurgy of steels, testing of materials, and heat treatments.
Nice To Haves
- Knowledgeable in fabrication methods used to meet cleanliness requirements for the semiconductor tool industry (Recommended)
- Willingness to develop technical expertise in one or more of the following areas: metal finishing (e. g. plating, anodization, ENP), precision cleaning or chemical analysis methods.
- Willingness to learn and be flexible in problem-solving approaches.
- Experience with brazing process (VB, FB, TB, etc.) on aluminum and stainless steel preferred
- Certified Welding Inspector (AWS D1. 1 or ASME B31. 3) preferred.
- One or more of the following certifications:
- CWI (Certified Welding Inspector)
- CWS (Certified Welding Supervisor)
- CWE (Certified Welding Educator)
- ASNT ACCP Level I, II, or III
- CWEng (Certified Welding Engineer)
Responsibilities
- Review and approve supplier welding procedures for Applied Materials products and applications
- Helps to establish best-known practices to establish and improve welding processes in the fabrication supply base
- Leads quality problem resolutions and incident management, drive root cause and corrective actions at suppliers
- Supports supplier technical audit process and evaluates supplier performance and capability. Supports supplier selection to develop a supply base that provides a competitive advantage in quality, value/cost, delivery and technology
- Supports new product development/introduction by reviewing process specifications, engineering drawing, and first article inspections to ensure integrity and clarity. Develops supplier capability to meet these requirements
- Provides training and mentoring to internal teams on fabrication processes and the supplier audit/evaluation process
