About The Position

In the Supplier Engineering role, the successful candidate will be responsible for developing assigned suppliers. The candidate will develop presentations in the 8D format and will interface with the suppliers, internal AMAT stakeholders, and at times, the end user customer as part of a larger problem-solving team. It is the role of the Supplier Engineer you will help resolve product or process failures that impact our internal manufacturing locations or our end user customers. The successful candidate will have an understanding or working knowledge of machined components, electro-mechanical assemblies, printed circuit cards, and cable and harness manufacturing. This position reports directly to the BTP / CM Supplier Quality Manager.

Requirements

  • Intermediate to advanced knowledge of Machining, Electro-mechanical assembly, or electrical components such as PCB, Box Builds, Cable & Harness.
  • Experience with GD&T or IPC standards.
  • Experience with how Quality Management Systems work, including internal and or external auditing, quality and risk management tools, including FMEA and basic statistical methods.
  • Advanced understanding of the lean six sigma quality tools and the 8D process.
  • Experience with cleanroom manufacturing protocol.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in supporting the manufacturing of Semiconductor Capital Equipment.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and team-oriented behavior.
  • Effective verbal and written communication style.
  • Bachelors or higher degree in an Engineering discipline.

Responsibilities

  • Lead quality problem resolutions, drive root cause and correction actions at suppliers and communicates back to the business unit executives.
  • Support new product development/introduction by reviewing process specifications, engineering drawings, and first article inspections to ensure integrity and clarity.
  • Drive systemic supplier performance improvement plans for reducing quality defects.
  • Conduct audits at supplier sites – part to print verification, quality management system review, root cause analysis, and corrective actions.
  • Prepare and present executive summaries on customer and factory escalations.
  • Prepare and present Quarter Quality Reviews to Business Unit Executives.
  • Leads the supplier technical audit process, evaluates supplier performance and capabilities, and drives continuous improvement opportunities at the supplier sites.
