About The Position

The Supplier Diversity Coordinator is responsible for developing and implementing Washington County's supplier diversity policies and practices. This role focuses on enhancing supplier diversity and procurement equity within the County, working closely with various departments and stakeholders to identify barriers and opportunities. The position is both internally and externally facing, promoting engagement with minority-owned, women-owned, and small businesses, as well as culturally specific non-profit organizations.

Requirements

  • 3 years of experience in supplier diversity or related field.
  • Knowledge of supplier diversity work in the public sector.
  • Experience managing relationships with county programs, local suppliers, and community organizations.
  • Strong analytical and research skills to identify barriers and opportunities in supplier diversity.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary contact for the Washington County Supplier Diversity Program for County departments, businesses, and culturally specific nonprofit organizations.
  • Partner with stakeholders to identify issues and barriers to support the development of strategies, priorities, policies, and practices.
  • Track and benchmark industry and governmental best practices in supplier diversity work.
  • Research, analyze, and review Washington County business practices to identify barriers to advancing supplier diversity.
  • Facilitate comparative analyses of Washington County supplier and diversity policies with other public agencies to identify areas for improvement.
  • Provide capacity building technical assistance and training to County departments.
  • Communicate Washington County supplier diversity policies and practices and provide outreach and education on opportunities to work with County departments.
  • Drive increased engagement amongst County departments and diverse suppliers by promoting meetings, presentations, and events.
  • Support engagement with qualified minority, women, and emerging small business suppliers, facilitating connections for certification.
  • Report on supplier diversity data and generate annual supplier diversity reports for the County.
  • Engage with the procurement team to develop solicitation review supports and tools for equity review criteria.
  • Represent the County at supplier development activities and attend relevant conferences and trade shows.
  • Contribute to creating and maintaining a positive and collaborative work culture.
