The Supplier Development Engineer plays a crucial role in ensuring that supplier systems, processes, and capabilities align with customer design intents and compliance requirements. This position involves verifying supply chain companies, addressing manufacturing and quality challenges, and leading new product introductions at suppliers.

  • Act as the technical point of contact for suppliers, solving emergent challenges and mitigating risks to the manufacturing system.
  • Support design for manufacturing (DFM) reviews to ensure manufacturability.
  • Provide leadership for New Product Introduction (NPI) at suppliers.
  • Identify, audit, and onboard new suppliers; perform surveillance and diagnostic audits on incumbent suppliers.
  • Industrialize new materials and/or processes by collaborating with suppliers to implement required capital improvements and develop their capability to scale-up new technologies.
  • Collaborate with Design, Quality, and Manufacturing to determine ideal performance specifications and supplier metrics.
  • Assist in investigating and resolving nonconformities or quality issues, including analyzing root causes and implementing corrective actions.
  • Lead containment activities, working with cross-functional counterparts on scope, path forward, and ultimate resolution.
  • Demonstrate innovation, technical excellence, attention to detail, self-direction, and courage.
  • Drive for results and customer satisfaction by collaborating with teams, leading projects, and continuously improving the supply base.
  • Experience with high volume manufacturing.
  • Ability to communicate and direct supplier activities at the management level.
  • Knowledge of quality processes such as production part approval process (PPAP), advanced product quality planning (APQP), and first article inspection reports (FAIR).
  • Experience with quality systems including ISO 9000/TS/AS9100/NADCAP.
  • Knowledge of statistical techniques and methods, e.g., design of experiments, Six Sigma, Statistical Process Control (SPC).
  • Knowledge of Lean concepts.
  • Experience with sharing information and influencing others across organizational lines, both internally and externally.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to make presentations to suppliers, team members, and management.
  • Experience with MRP or ERP systems.
  • Ability to work extended hours, including nights and weekends when required to meet critical deadlines.
  • Ability to travel 25-40% domestically and internationally, possibly on short notice; valid driver's license mandatory.
  • U.S. Person status.
  • Master's degree in engineering or business.
  • Base Compensation: USD 70,000.00 - 113,000.00 Paid Salaried
