Purpose: The role of Supplier Development Engineer presents an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and highly motivated individual who possesses a genuine passion for excellence. You will work within a dedicated and supportive global team which is actively engaged in developing a supply base that delivers the required levels of quality, delivery, service, cost and sustainability; enhancing business competitiveness across all of NSG’s global Strategic Business Units. Essential Functions: Perform new and existing supplier system / process audits. Ensure supplier Advanced Product Quality Planning and Production Part Approval Process activities, perform Run at Rate studies. Support suppliers and NSG operations when supplier quality and delivery incidents occur, ensuring that issues are appropriately dealt with to minimize any impact on NSG’s operations. Ensure adequate investigations are performed using appropriate problem solving techniques such as 8D, Ishikawa, 5Y etc. Monitor the ongoing performance of the supply base, lead supplier improvement and escalation projects. Co-ordinate supplier sustainability / ESG initiatives and improvement plans. Support Category Teams to identify new suppliers, including opportunities to source materials from low cost countries. Represent the Procurement function for both customer and external certification audits. Actively participate in and support cross functional teams working on a broad range of different initiatives, involving manufacturing, quality, supply chain, global sourcing, R&D, design and engineering. Support NSG operations in other regions with issues relating to or originating from North American suppliers, and vice versa. The role will require periods of time to be spent working away from home, particularly in North America but also in other overseas countries to support business needs. Scope/Dimensions: Directly engaged with NSG operations in North America and around the world. Managing and developing a diverse range of suppliers delivering direct / indirect materials, products and services to the NSG Group. Working within a global network of Supplier Development Engineers and Procurement Category teams. Interacting with all levels of personnel, both within NSG and a supply base consisting of small, medium and international organizations. Qualifications Required: Degree in Engineering and / Business Administration or equivalent experience. A minimum of 3 years experience in Quality, Procurement, Engineering or Supply Chain, preferably within an automotive OEM and / or 1st tier automotive supplier. Management systems auditor certification and experience. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications. Qualifications Desired: Knowledge and experience of applying AIAG core tools. Knowledge and experience of management systems for quality / environmental / safety / sustainability. Fluent in English language. A second language would be advantageous. Other Requirements: Authorized to drive company vehicles. Flexibility; able to travel domestically and overseas, occasionally at short notice. Effective communication skills and the ability to interact with other nationalities and cultures is essential.
