About The Position

This position will be part of the xEV Business Unit and will be responsible for providing Supplier Quality support for new business development within the Americas Region. This position has direct contact with multiple departments within the region/manufacturing sites and will support customer requests when supplied parts are involved . The overall requirement of the Supplier Development Engineer is to ensure that raw materials and components meet all regulatory, customer and design requirements.

Requirements

  • Knowledge for Quality Systems ( IATF16949, APQ P, PPAP/IPPAAR part approval, CAPA corrective/preventive actions , SAP, Control Plans, FMEA’s, and Process Operation Standards )
  • Knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerance (GD&T), print interpretation
  • Working knowledge of Quality Systems, including PPAP/IPPAAR part approval, CAPA corrective/preventive actions, SAP, Control Plans, FMEAs, and Process Operation Standards.
  • Strong understanding of GD&T, print interpretation, and electrical and mechanical schematics, with the ability to interpret component part specifications.
  • Experience in an engineering or technical role within automotive manufacturing, including support of Electro-Mechanical process and knowledge of EV components (inverters, motors , etc.).
  • Ability to understand and explain component function within overall product design, including analysis of product and process change point impacts.
  • Proficient in structured problem-solving tools (5P, 5-Why, Fishbone, FTA) with strong root cause analysis capability.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain supplier relationships and lead cross-functional projects, obtaining support across multiple departments.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present technical information to all levels of management and customers.
  • Well organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple deadlines and projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to work effectively in a remote environment.
  • Ability and willingness to travel domestically and internationally .
  • Bachelor’s Degree in a related field (Quality, Engineering, Etc.)
  • 2-3 years of relevant experience (see above stated qualifications)

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate potential suppliers through process audits and documentation reviews.
  • Partner with Procurement to support supplier selection decisions with objective data.
  • Verify supplier manufacturing processes can meet specifications using APQP tools, trials, and capability studies.
  • Manage and update program tracking documentation in accordance with APQP, Plant and Customer requirements.
  • Lead measurement correlation studies to ensure alignment between supplier and Astemo systems before trials.
  • Develop receiving inspection plans with Site SQ prior to supplier trial runs.
