About The Position

The Supplemental Instruction Leader at Lemoore College provides in-classroom assistance to students, including supplemental instruction outside of the classroom. This role is designed to improve students' academic performance and increase retention through peer-to-peer learning environments. The position is temporary and involves attending all class meetings, conducting study sessions, and collaborating with the supplemental instruction supervisor/coordinator.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Overall GPA of 2.7 or above.
• Completion of the selected course with a grade of 'B' or above.
• Knowledge of content of assigned subject.
• Knowledge and skill to create session handouts.
• In-depth knowledge of office management techniques including scheduling and customer service.
• Working knowledge of learning styles and tutorial/instructional techniques.
• Working knowledge of computer-aided instructional techniques and software applications.
• Knowledge of proper English grammar, vocabulary, syntax, spelling, and punctuation.
• Sufficient human relation skills to convey technical concepts to others.

Responsibilities

• Attend all class meetings of the assigned course, take notes, complete assignments and read all assigned materials including textbook and supplemental reading.
• Conduct, at a minimum, three to five 50-minute study sessions per week throughout the term using strategies learned through the supplemental instruction leader training workshop.
• Work with the supplemental instruction supervisor/coordinator in scheduling of supplemental instruction sessions.
• Meet regularly with supplemental instruction supervisor/coordinator for debrief sessions.
• Report learning outcomes to supervisor on a regular basis.
• Perform other duties as assigned by supplemental instruction supervisor/coordinator.

Benefits

• $17.00 per hour.
