About The Position

This position involves supervising staff and volunteers in a seasonal capacity at Glacier National Park, focusing on providing backcountry recreational opportunities and ensuring visitor safety. Requirements

  • U.S. Citizenship required.
  • Appointment subject to background investigation and favorable adjudication.
  • Meet Selective Service Registration Act requirement for males.
  • Must be at least 18 years old or at least 16 years old with specific educational qualifications.
  • Experience leading or supervising others in a recreation setting, particularly in fee collection and permit issuance.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in outdoor recreation management.
  • Knowledge of backcountry regulations and safety procedures.
  • Experience with electronic cash registers and point of sales systems.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise up to 5 positions including planning, scheduling, and assigning work.
  • Set goals and approve leave requests for supervised employees and volunteers.
  • Provide employee and volunteer orientation and training.
  • Ensure equal opportunity for all employees and volunteers supervised.
  • Responsible for on-the-job safety and developing effective working relationships with other units.
  • Serve as a front-line representative of Glacier National Park.
  • Provide visitors with information on backcountry recreational opportunities, trail status, and campground availability.
  • Process and issue backcountry permits.
  • Conduct public orientation on backcountry regulations and current park events.
  • Collect backcountry camping and reservation fees using an electronic cash register or point of sales system.
  • Complete shift reports, safeguard funds collected, and prepare remittance reports and bank deposits.
