About The Position
The position is for a Veterinary Medical Officer with the Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS). The role involves planning, organizing, coordinating, and adapting the full range of meat and poultry inspection operations in slaughter and processing establishments. The officer will ensure compliance with the Pathogen Reduction and Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP) regulations, oversee consumer protection, and enforce federal inspection procedures. The position requires a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree and involves occasional travel. The job is permanent and full-time, with a salary range of $72,533 to $140,713 per year, and a promotion potential to GS-12. A $20,000 sign-on bonus and relocation assistance are available.
