About The Position

This position is for a Front Line Manager in the Taxpayer Services (TS) Division of the IRS, specifically within the Submission Processing unit located in Austin. The role involves planning and managing the work of subordinates, evaluating their performance, and providing guidance and training. The position is open to current federal employees of the IRS and those eligible under the Career Transition Assistance Plan (CTAP). The job requires a minimum of one year of specialized experience at a level equivalent to the next lower grade in the Federal service.

Requirements

• One year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the next lower level within the payband or GS grade.
• Completion of at least 90 days of federal civilian service since the latest non-temporary appointment from a competitive referral certificate.
• Education credentials must be from an accredited college or university recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.

Responsibilities

• Plan work to be accomplished by subordinates, set and adjust short-term priorities, and prepare schedules for completion of work.
• Assign work to subordinates based on priorities and the capabilities of employees.
• Evaluate work performance of subordinates and make recommendations for recognition or disciplinary action.
• Provide advice, counsel, or instruction to employees on work and administrative matters.
• Interview candidates for positions and recommend appointments, promotions, or reassignments.
• Resolve complaints from employees and refer grievances as appropriate.
• Effect minor disciplinary measures and recommend actions in more serious cases.
• Identify developmental and training needs of employees and arrange for necessary training.
• Initiate improvements in production, work processes, and quality of work.
