About The Position

The Social Work Supervisor of the HUD/VASH Program, located at the West Palm Beach VA Medical Center, has significant personnel management responsibilities for the professional social work staff members assigned to the HUD/VASH Program. The Supervisory Social Worker is responsible for the professional and administrative management of social work services provided in HUD/VASH, while also providing direct clinical services to a limited caseload.

Responsibilities

  • Works with the less senior social workers and provides administrative, technical, and clinical supervision necessary for accomplishing the work of the program.
  • Assigns work, establishes guidelines and performance expectations for staff, and communicates with them through the formal employee performance management system.
  • Observes workers' performance; demonstrates and conducts work performance critiques.
  • Reviews the HUD/VASH team for appropriate treatment plans and appropriate social work documentation including Hurricane/Disaster planning for HUD/VASH clients.
  • Provides informal feedback and periodically evaluates employee performance. Incumbent works to resolve informal complaints and grievances.
  • Assures that subordinates are trained and fully comply with the provisions of the safety regulations and HUD/VASH national guidelines.
  • Provides advice and counsel to workers related to work and administrative matters.
  • Effects disciplinary measures as appropriate to the authority delegated in this area.
