About The Position

Is in charge of a Uniform Center with responsibility for directing, coordinating, and selling uniforms and accessories to authorized military personnel. Duties and Responsibilities: Carries out policy of courtesy and service. Supervises associates engaged in rendering assistance to customers and selling uniforms and accessories, assisting in the loading/unloading of delivery trucks, verifying incoming deliveries and operating materials, handling equipment such as hand trucks or dollies, storing merchandise in stock areas, price stamping and stocking shelves with merchandise in backup areas, operating a cash register, and maintaining stock records on a current basis. Establishes schedules of work and determines priorities, approves/disapproves leave, and appraises performance. Maintains unit merchandise controls, ensures all master stock assortment items are on hand at all times. Ensures timely replenishment up to maximum stock levels authorized by assigned model stock plans. Reviews stock on hand for obsolete slow-moving, damaged, or shop worn merchandise and reports findings to appropriate authority for disposal action. Checks incoming shipments, signs receiving documents, and advises superior of shipment problems. Determines and allocates sales space for merchandise considering such factors as customer needs, item turnover rate, and customer traffic patterns. Assures rotation of stock to prevent spoilage and outdating of stock, marks down price of merchandise to move damaged or dated stock. Ensures that all quality deficiencies for Department E-1 and L-1 merchandise are reported to appropriate authorities. Responsible for guarding and safekeeping of funds and inventory assigned to the uniform center and for submission of all required cash control documents. Carries out Equal Employment Opportunity EEO policies and communicates support of these policies to subordinates. Assignments are carried out independently and work is reviewed for the efficient operation of the store and patron satisfaction. Performs other related duties as assigned

Requirements

  • GENERAL EXPERIENCE - One (1) year responsible experience in clerical, office, or retail sales store work of any kind in which the applicant has demonstrated the ability to perform satisfactorily in the position to be filled.
  • SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE - One (1) year progressively responsible experience in retail sales performing the kind of duties which constitute the principal work of the position to be filled.
  • SUBSTITUTION OF EDUCATION FOR EXPERIENCE - Study completed in a college university or junior college, above the high school level, may be substituted on the basis of one-half academic year of study for six (6) months of experience.
  • At any level specialized experience may be substituted for required general experience.
  • Candidates must have demonstrated in their work experience or training that they possess or have potential to develop the qualities of successful supervision.
