About The Position

This position is located in Chickasaw National Recreation Area, within the Division of Interpretation and Visitor Services. The role focuses on planning and managing interpretation, educational outreach, visitor services, and the volunteer program. The park ranger-interpreter will engage diverse audiences, serve as the Public Information Officer, and collaborate with various agencies and organizations to enhance community involvement in national park programming.

Requirements

• U.S. Citizenship required.
• Appointment subject to background investigation and favorable adjudication.
• Meet Selective Service Registration Act requirement for males.
• Valid driver's license required for operating a government or private motor vehicle.
• Must submit certified driving records from all States that disclose all valid driver's licenses.
• Required to wear a uniform and comply with National Park Service uniform standards.
• May be required to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and overtime.
• Must complete a one-year probationary period if a new employee or supervisor in the Federal government.
• Occasional overnight travel may be required.

Nice To Haves

• Experience in providing interpretative services in a national park setting.
• Knowledge of visitor services and volunteer program management.

Responsibilities

• Planning and management of Interpretation, educational outreach, visitor services, and the volunteer program.
• Collaborate and partner with Federal, State, County and City agencies, educational institutions, non-profit organizations, and private and professional organizations.
• Engage diverse audiences in national park programming and partnerships throughout the community.
• Serve as the park's Public Information Officer and liaison with Western National Parks Association.
