About The Position

This position is for a Physician Assistant in Shiprock, NM, under federal employment. To qualify, applicants must demonstrate sufficient experience and/or education to perform the duties of the position. This includes both paid and unpaid experience, such as volunteer work through National Service programs. Applicants must clearly identify their duties and responsibilities in previous positions, including total hours worked per week. The position requires graduation from an accredited physician assistant educational program and successful completion of the NCCPA examination, along with maintaining certification and licensure as a Physician Assistant.

Requirements

• Graduation from an accredited physician assistant educational program.
• Successful completion of the NCCPA examination.
• Current, active, full, and unrestricted license as a Physician Assistant.
• For GS-9: Completion of Master of Physician Assistant Studies or equivalent experience.
• For GS-11: Completion of Doctorate of Physician Assistant Studies or equivalent experience.
• For GS-12: Minimum of one year of experience as a certified physician assistant equivalent to the GS-11 level.

Responsibilities

• Assist in diagnosing and treating patients.
• Take patient histories and perform physical examinations.
• Analyze and interpret x-rays and lab results.
• Maintain a safe and clean working environment.
• Adhere to infection control policies and protocols.
• Perform minor surgical procedures within the relevant specialty.
• Document patient care services by charting in patient records.
• Develop and implement patient management plans.
• Educate and counsel patients regarding their health.
