This position is located at the US Army Special Operations Command (USASOC) in Fort Liberty, NC. The role focuses on supporting employee development and training while providing operational direction and oversight for the Special Operations Lessons Learned program.

  • Identifies developmental and training needs of employees; provides and/or arranges for needed development and training.
  • Serves as Lesson Learned Military Analyst for the United States Army Special Operations Command, providing operational direction, oversight, and management of the program.
  • Develops advisories for customers responsible for collection and evaluation of documents to support the growth of the Special Operations Lessons Learned reporting system.
  • Directly supports Overseas Contingency Operations (OCO) and SOF operations through the collection of Observations, Insights, and Lessons (OIL) and Tactics, Techniques, and Procedures (TTP).
  • Applies subject matter expertise in research methodologies and techniques to locate hard-to-find military and agency resources.
  • Assigns work based on priorities, difficulty of assignments, and the capabilities of the employees; identifies developmental and training needs of employees; provides and/or arranges for needed development and training.
  • Provides technical oversight; develops performance plans and rates employees; interviews candidates for subordinate positions; recommends hiring, promotion, or reassignments; takes disciplinary measures, such as warnings and reprimands.
  • One year of specialized experience in the Federal service leading and coordinating complex studies and projects related to Lessons Learned at tactical, operational, and strategic levels of war.
  • Experience must be at the GS-12 level or equivalent in the federal service.
  • Competency in Leadership, Organizational Performance Analysis, Program Management, and Technical Competence.
  • Salary includes applicable locality pay or Local Market Supplement.
