About the position

The Robert J. Dole VA Medical Center in Wichita Kansas is seeking a highly qualified and motivated candidate for the Chief of Logistics position in Wichita. This position serves as the Chief Supply Chain Officer (CSCO) within the medical facility, responsible for the development and integration of a supply chain that ensures the logistical requirement of the Robert J. Dole VA Medical Center and supported catchment areas are met.

Responsibilities

  • Oversees, guides, manages and integrates supply chain operations across the organization.
  • Plans and coordinates fiscal, acquisition, clinical and administrative operations.
  • Establishes, monitors and manages the performance and measurement of logistics functions for all aspects of the supply chain.
  • Conducts logistics audits, compliance reviews and program effectiveness/efficiency reviews.
  • Manages all activities involved in the supply chain management to include sourcing, procurement and logistics management activities.
  • Responsible for linking major business functions and processes within the organization into a cohesive and high performing business model.
  • Forecast planning and budget execution for supplies, subsistence, durable medical equipment, medical gases, expendable/non-expendable and capital equipment, inventory management, warehouse operations, transportation and distribution.
  • Leads and/or participates in regular meetings, ensuring logistics needs and requirements are being met.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen to apply for this job.
  • Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959.
  • You may be required to serve a probationary period.
  • Subject to background/security investigation.
  • Participation in the seasonal influenza vaccination program is a requirement for all Department of Veterans Affairs Health Care Personnel (HCP).
  • Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants must have served 52 weeks at the GS-12 level.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in managing a group with a variety of occupations and subordinate supervisors.
  • Experience with budget formulation and forecasting of expenditures.
