This position is a supervisory role within the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) focused on overseeing activities related to water quality standards and compliance with the Clean Water Act. The selected candidate will be responsible for managing a team, ensuring adherence to legal and regulatory requirements, and serving as a technical advisor on water quality issues.

  • Plan, organize, and direct the activities of the organizational unit to ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Exercise supervisory personnel management responsibilities.
  • Represent the Agency with various functional area organizations.
  • Serve as a technical advisor to the Second-Level Supervisor on Clean Water Act issues and water quality standards development.
  • Manage contracts, grants, and interagency agreements, spending less than 25% of work time on these activities.
  • 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-13 level in environmental protection programs related to water quality issues.
  • Knowledge of the Clean Water Act and water quality standards development.
  • Ability to research, interpret, and apply environmental policies and regulations.
  • Experience in leading staff, evaluating work performance, and providing guidance.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Experience in coaching and mentoring staff.
  • Familiarity with federal environmental regulations and policies.
