The Supervisory Interdisciplinary (Resource Stewardship and Science Program Manager) position at the National Park Service is a senior role responsible for advising the Superintendent's Office on the preservation and enhancement of natural and cultural resources within the National Capital Parks-East. The incumbent will oversee various programs related to cultural and natural resource management, park planning, and special use permitting, while leading an interdisciplinary team to develop policies and ensure compliance with federal regulations.

  • Serve as a senior principal advisor to the Superintendent's Office for preservation and enhancement of natural and cultural resources.
  • Oversee cultural resources, natural resources, museum collections, and special use permitting programs.
  • Provide leadership in developing policies, standards, and procedures for resource management.
  • Lead the compliance team for federal regulations including NEPA/NHPA and Endangered Species Act.
  • Participate in the Senior Leadership Team to set annual and long-term goals.
  • Develop work plans, scopes of work, cost estimates, and proposals for grants.
  • Create employee performance standards and conduct appraisals.
  • Plan and assign work to employees, adjusting priorities and schedules as needed.
  • U.S. Citizenship required.
  • A degree in behavioral or social science, biological sciences, natural resource management, or a related discipline, or equivalent experience.
  • At least one year of specialized experience at the GS-13 level in the Federal Service, including knowledge of historic preservation and resource management.
  • Familiarity with federal and state laws regarding preservation and protection of resources.
  • Experience in park and land use planning.
  • Knowledge of cultural landscapes and natural museum collections.
  • Expertise in applying professional knowledge of ecology and hydrology.
