About the position

The Supervisory Engineering Technician will be responsible for overseeing the operation and maintenance of utility systems within the Utility and Energy Management Branch of NAVFAC Southwest. This role includes managing capital projects, coordinating utility billing, and ensuring compliance with regulations and policies related to utility management and energy programs.

Responsibilities

  • Operate and maintain NSAM utility systems.
  • Oversee execution of capital projects for utility systems.
  • Coordinate billing of utility customers.
  • Plan and program capital projects for utility systems.

Requirements

  • At least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.
  • Developing and applying procedures, requirements, regulations, and policies related to budget development, utility plants and system infrastructure maintenance and operations, commodities management, utility allocation, and energy program management.
  • Applying practical and technical knowledge of various trades used to maintain and operate utility systems (e.g., boiler plant operators, pipefitters, electricians).
  • Reading blueprints, wiring diagrams, drawings, plans, and specifications and reviewing designs for utility projects and making applicable corrections for accuracy.
  • Utilizing operation and maintenance principles for a wide range of utility and energy systems.
  • Assisting in the development of contract specifications, reports, and performance standards.
