Corrections professionals who foster a humane and secure environment and ensure public safety by preparing individuals for successful reentry into our communities. This position occupies a supervisory role involving the direction of a shift, consisting of correctional officers assigned to various posts and/or programs. The incumbent is responsible for carrying out the directions of the Captain relative to planning, directing, and administering inmate programs, activities, work, and recreational pursuits. They serve as a direct liaison between the Captain and correctional officers, responsible for the conduct, morale, performance, and training of the correctional officer complement. The incumbent also authorizes changes in institutional operations when necessary to meet emergency situations and is charged with maintaining the security of the institution.
