About The Position

This position requires a comprehensive understanding of engineering principles and practices, particularly in civil and environmental health engineering. Candidates must demonstrate sufficient experience and/or education to perform the duties associated with the role. Experience can include both paid and unpaid work, including volunteer service through National Service programs. Applicants must clearly outline their responsibilities and the total hours worked in each position held. The basic requirements include a degree in engineering or a combination of education and experience that provides a thorough knowledge of the physical and mathematical sciences underlying engineering. Additionally, candidates must meet minimum qualifications, including at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 level in the Federal service, which involves providing expert technical advice on water supply, wastewater, or solid waste facilities, and preparing relevant engineering documents.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering from an ABET-accredited program or equivalent education and experience.
  • Professional Engineering (PE) license issued by any U.S. State, the District of Columbia, Guam, or Puerto Rico.
  • At least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 level in the Federal service.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in interdisciplinary engineering positions.
  • Registration as an Engineer Intern (EI) or Engineer in Training (EIT).
  • Successful completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) examination.

Responsibilities

  • Provide expert technical advice and guidance to management and staff on operational issues related to community and individual water supply, wastewater, or solid waste facilities.
  • Prepare design documents, construction drawings, technical specifications, and procurement documents.
  • Prepare and review engineering reports and cost estimates for funded projects.
