About The Position

This position is a federal role that requires candidates to demonstrate sufficient experience and/or education to perform the duties associated with the job. The experience can include both paid and unpaid work, including volunteer work through National Service programs. Candidates must clearly identify their duties and responsibilities in previous positions, including the total number of hours worked per week. The position has specific basic requirements and minimum qualifications that must be met, including specialized experience in technical work related to engineering, drafting, surveying, and other relevant fields. The job is open for applications from August 22, 2024, to August 21, 2025.

Requirements

• At least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level in the Federal service.
• Experience in drafting and data entry in various systems.
• Knowledge of engineering and sanitation systems.
• Ability to prepare uncomplicated designs for water and sewer systems.
• Experience with modern surveying and drafting equipment, including Total stations and AutoCAD.

Nice To Haves

• Certification by the National Institute for Certification in Engineering Technologies.
• Experience in a trade or craft with substantial developmental, test, or design responsibilities.

Responsibilities

• Gather data from surveys and field explorations, both visual and physical.
• Utilize surveying equipment to collect data, stake facilities, and verify construction tolerances.
• Estimate costs of construction for water and sewer facilities.
• Conduct on-site inspections of projects to ensure compliance with specifications.
• Prepare technical specifications for construction materials and estimate costs.
• Participate or lead survey crews in data collection for engineered designs.
• Investigate malfunctioning water and sewer system components.
