About The Position

Requirements

• Must be a U.S. Citizen to apply.
• Males born after 12/31/1959 must be registered with Selective Service.
• Primary U.S. residency for at least three of the last five years.
• Must pass a background investigation and/or polygraph.
• Must meet job-related medical and/or fitness standards.
• 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level, performing duties such as interpreting and enforcing immigration laws, gathering intelligence, and investigating smuggling operations.

Responsibilities

• Direct assignments of subordinate Border Patrol Agents, specialized units, and station operations.
• Direct activities aimed at preventing the illegal entry of undocumented noncitizens into the United States by land, water, or air.
• Seek out and apprehend smugglers or undocumented noncitizens who are illegally in the United States.
• Enforce the criminal provisions of the Immigration and Nationality laws.
• Supervise personnel functions including leave approval, resolving disciplinary problems, and preparing annual performance appraisals.

Benefits

• Salary range from $103,409.00 to $134,435.00 (GS-13, Step 1 to Step 10).
