About The Position

This position is with the Department of Homeland Security, within U.S. Customs and Border Protection, U.S. Border Patrol, San Diego Sector, Targeting & Intelligence Division, Sector Intelligence Unit (SIU) in Santee, CA. This position will allow you to use your expertise to prevent illegal entry of noncitizens into the United States by land, water, or air; enforce criminal provisions of the Immigration and Nationality Laws; and seek out and apprehend smugglers or noncitizens who are in the United States illegally. As a Supervisory Border Patrol Agent (Intelligence), you will serve as a primary law enforcement officer under 5 U.S.C. 8331 (6c) and 8412 (d).

Requirements

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen to apply for this position.
  • Males born after 12/31/1959 must be registered with Selective Service.
  • Primary U.S. residency for at least three of the last five years.
  • Must be able to pass a background investigation and/or polygraph.
  • Must meet job-related medical and/or fitness standards.
  • Must possess the ability to operate a Government Owned Vehicle and have a valid, non-restricted driver's license.
  • Must be proficient in the Spanish language.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in law enforcement or other responsible work that demonstrated the ability to make arrests and exercise sound judgment in the use of firearms.
  • Experience in gathering and analyzing intelligence from a variety of sources.
  • Experience in developing case work pertaining to criminal prosecutions and investigations.

Responsibilities

  • Leading a unit or team of Border Patrol Agents capable of anticipating, targeting, detecting, and disrupting cross-border violations that threaten national security, economy, and public safety.
  • Collecting intelligence information on criminal activity focusing on smuggling activities, illegal entry, fraudulent documents, terrorists, and narcotics traffickers.
  • Providing guidance and leadership to BPAs in accomplishing specific objectives towards collecting, refining, analyzing, and disseminating strategic and tactical intelligence reports.
  • Monitoring liaison with other Federal, State, local, and tribal law enforcement agencies, as well as foreign agencies, to support intelligence priorities and operational enforcement efforts.
  • Conducting or arranging for training on team activities concerning work methods, policies, procedures, guidelines, and techniques of operational briefings for Sector personnel.
  • Reporting to the SOS/DPAIC on unusual problems that arise and on progress towards meeting established completion dates of various assignments and the resources needs of the team.
