About The Position

Requirements

  • U.S. citizenship or allegiance to the U.S.
  • One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-14 level in aerospace engineering or a related field.
  • Experience providing oversight of technical assessment processes to ensure safe and successful ground systems testing and operations.
  • Experience managing safety and quality processes, requirements development, contractor surveillance, and technical assessment.
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Physical Science, Mathematics, Life Science, or Computer Science from an accredited institution.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience collaborating with Program Technical Authorities including the Chief Safety Officer.
  • Knowledge of NASA's unique aerospace work and safety protocols.

Responsibilities

  • Provide administrative and technical supervision necessary for accomplishing the work of the branch/organization.
  • Provide technical guidance to branch employees overseeing contractor personnel engaged in vehicle testing and checkout activities.
  • Ensure that safety and quality assurance requirements are met.
  • Obtain resources and identify strategic objectives for the organization.
  • Define jobs, select employees, and assign work; define technical work requirements and milestones.
  • Recommend employee promotions and recognition; approve leave; implement performance modifications and take corrective action as appropriate.
  • Evaluate the organization and employee accomplishments by accepting or rejecting work products; present and defend organization and employees' work to senior management and other offices.
  • Serve as a technical advisor and consultant to other KSC and NASA management personnel on safety and quality assurance matters related to current and future launch vehicle programs.
  • Review safety, quality, and reliability activities to assure the development of program/project activities for testing and flight readiness of flight systems and components.
  • Serve as technical liaison between the Contractor and the Contracting Officer by monitoring the Contractor's performance and delivery of the final products and/or services under the contract.
  • Perform a full range of supervisory duties including assigning and evaluating work; recommending personnel actions; taking disciplinary actions; and identifying training needs and developing employees.
