The Supervisory Accountant position within the Department of Agriculture's Direct Loan Division is responsible for overseeing the execution of program objectives and goals. The incumbent will manage a team of approximately 118 employees, ensuring effective financial management and compliance with accounting standards. This role involves strategic planning, policy formulation, and direct supervision of staff performance.

  • Supervise a staff of approximately 118 professional, administrative, and technical employees.
  • Approve division work plans and schedules.
  • Define objectives and general operating procedures.
  • Evaluate work performance of supervisors and review evaluations of non-supervisory employees.
  • Provide advice, counsel, and instruction to employees on work and administrative matters.
  • Lead and manage the application of all RD loan and grant programs.
  • Establish and implement accounting and financial reporting requirements.
  • Participate in decision-making for formulating policies and procedures related to financial services.
  • Must be a US Citizen or US National.
  • Current federal employees must meet time-in-grade requirements.
  • One year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-14 level.
  • Experience in executing Mortgage and Loan Principles and Practices in financial and accounting management.
  • Basic education requirements include a degree in accounting or a related field with 24 semester hours in accounting.
  • Experience in strategic planning initiatives.
  • Knowledge of qualitative and quantitative methods to assess organizational effectiveness.
