Position Summary  The Operations Supervisor partners with the Facilities Manager to plan, coordinate, and execute daily operational activities at the facility. This role provides hands-on leadership to ensure safe, efficient, and compliant processing, receiving, shipping, and material-handling operations. The Supervisor is responsible for directing personnel, maintaining equipment and yard organization, tracking production, and fostering a strong safety culture.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in scrap, metal, or a similar industry is required.
  • Effective communication and organization skills.
  • Ability to oversee and manage employees through hands-on leadership.
  • Self-directed with the ability to manage responsibilities independently.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • General knowledge of computers and systems.
  • Strong commitment to workplace safety.
  • Willingness to learn and continue to grow within the company.
  • Weekend work required
  • Ensures adherence to all company and OSHA safety protocols.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous supervisory experience is preferred
  • Prior experience with non-ferrous metal preferred.
  • Basic understanding of scrap metal types.

Responsibilities

  • Direct daily oversight of receiving, material handling, equipment use, and labor activities, including maintenance and other equipment needs.
  • Oversee loading/unloading of trucks to ensure safe and accurate material movement.
  • Maintain an organized and efficiently operated yard environment.
  • Execute daily operational requirements and communicate production to management.
  • Maintain accurate inventory and support timely outbound shipments.
  • Ensure proper storage of finished goods in alignment with quality controls.
  • Promote safety culture and ensure compliance with standards.
  • Conduct daily inspections and maintain required documentation.
  • Supervise, train, and mentor yard personnel.
  • Assist with daily operational planning and employee assignments.
  • Maintain accurate logs, reports, inventories, inspections (MEX), and compliance documentation.
  • Adhere to all Environmental upkeep and requirements.
  • Complete other duties as assigned.
