As part of the Washington DC Uplink Operations Center you will be managing the satellite uplinks, and configuration parameters for all SiriusXM satellite audio and data services. As part of the larger Operations Team, you will be part of the largest audio entertainment company providing world class service to millions of subscribers.

  • Oversee the 24/7 operations of the Uplink Control Center, ensuring consistent, high-quality broadcast delivery and swift incident response.
  • Manage shift personnel responsible for monitoring uplink systems, channel configurations, and conditional access services.
  • Coordinate scheduling, assign tasks, and lead training to uphold operational standards and support fault resolution processes.
  • Act as a key liaison between operations and engineering, validating system configurations and contributing to the transition of new technologies into production.
  • Ensure compliance through documentation and performance oversight.
  • Maintain shift/team readiness for business continuity and emergency scenarios.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, technical excellence, and continuous improvement.
  • Associates degree in computer science, engineering, or equivalent related degree; military training or equivalent experience will be considered in lieu of degree.
  • At least 2 years of experience in one or more of the following areas: Network/IP communication, RF system operations, Systems Administration, anomaly resolution or a combination thereof.
  • 2 years of relevant experience in broadcast operations, network operations, or uplink/satellite systems, with 2+ years in a people leadership role.
  • Previous role or experience managing and supervising 24/7 shift personnel and schedules.
  • Able to support a 24-hour/7-day facility; able to work holidays, weekends, and occasional overtime.
  • Experience with Active Directory, Group Policy, installation, patch management, and clustering.
  • Deep understanding of Red Hat Linux Administration, including in using and updating RHEL systems.
  • Proficient in database queries, backups, restores, configuration and monitoring of a diverse set of database environments, including Microsoft SQL Server, Postgres, MySql.
  • Command-line and scripting skills (Power Shell, bash, python, SQL).
  • Knowledge of network protocols and standards, routing, encoding, encryption, multiplexing, modulation, and transmission.
  • Ability to project professionalism over the phone and in person with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Must be able to prioritize and multi-task, and work under shifting deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • System Administration and IT Certifications in Linux, Microsoft, or other network related fields are a plus.
  • Demonstrated ability to work across technical and non-technical teams (e.g., Engineering, Programming, IT).
  • Familiarity with configuration management, system integration, and operational readiness processes.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills, with experience managing large-scale deployments or transitions.
  • Strong decision-making skills under pressure and the ability to balance short-term problem-solving with long-term planning.
  • Knowledge of satellite transponders, RF systems, signal modulation/demodulation, and transmission paths.
  • Use tools such as spectrum analyzers, multiviewers, and signal monitoring systems to identify and report anomalies.
  • Understanding of playout systems, automation, audio encoding, multiplexing, and content distribution workflows.
  • Experience with tools for signal quality assurance and diagnostics (e.g., spectrum analyzers, IRDs, multiviewers).
  • Use of systems like Ops Genie, ELK or Splunk for monitoring and alerting.
  • Use network and broadcast monitoring tools (e.g., SNMP dashboards, alerting systems) to detect faults and notify engineering teams.
  • Experience with ServiceNow, Jira, or similar tools for creating and tracking incidents to resolution.
  • Strong familiarity with Slack, Zoom, and email communication principles.
  • Base salary range of $70,000 to $90,000 depending on skills, qualifications, and experience.
  • Eligibility for discretionary short-term and long-term incentives.
