About The Position

In an environment of continuous quality improvement, the Transfer Center Supervisor will have direct oversight and be competent in dispatching the incoming and outgoing EMS traffic for the health system and ensuring continuous flow of patient information from pre-hospital to treating departments. Will also share and work alongside his team to be frontline with quality improvement. Exhibits the MHS Standards of Excellence and exercises to strict confidentiality at all times.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED required.
  • Basic EMT and BLS certification required.
  • Excellent verbal/written skills.
  • Ability to work as a team, logistics/problem solving skills, organization and time management skills are also essential.

Nice To Haves

  • Associates degree preferred.
  • Previous supervisory experience preferred.
  • Advance EMT certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Directs incoming inter-hospital transport and scene/EMS calls received to appropriate resource expeditiously.
  • Obtains and accurately documents clinical information from referring physicians, hospitals, special care facilities, EMS agencies and communicates this to appropriate Emergency services personnel.
  • Facilitates coordination/medical control of private ground and air transports units and scene/EMS calls.
  • Documents designated communications/events in written logs and computerized databases.
  • Assists in development of computer programs, report design, and monthly statistical reports.
  • Activates trauma paging system for Level I and Level II trauma alerts.
  • Assists in training of new staff and documents their progress per orientation guidelines.
  • Ensures correct medical record and account number is placed on all EMS run sheets as turned into the facility.
  • Demonstrates current knowledge and use of the Care-Point System to facilitate patient flow through the emergency department.
  • Participates in quality initiative activities and special projects in the department and hospital.
  • Must be able to work competently with minimal supervision and in a professional manner that promotes the efficiency and professionalism of the hospital.
  • Coordinates and leads daily huddles to ensure consistent communication between Communications Center and other departments.
  • Monitors activities of the dispatchers while supporting departmental goals
  • Has the authority and responsibility to hire, transfer, suspend, lay off, recall, promote, discharge, assign, reward, discipline, direct, or recommend such actions by using independent judgment.
  • Completes and conducts employee performance evaluations based on direct observation of their employee’s job performance.
  • Granted authority to perform supervisory duties and are held accountable for performing such duties.
  • Assumes all other duties and responsibilities as necessary.
