About The Position

As a Supervisor, Tissue Recovery Operations you’ll play a vital role in advancing our mission. In this position, you’ll be responsible for providing direct leadership to the Tissue Recovery surgical staff. They assign daily activities, monitor productivity, and report outcomes to the department manager. They develop and coach team members in defined key performance areas to support defined goals and objectives. They assist the manager in addressing employee-related issues and celebrating employee successes. They participate in the recovery on-call rotation and the administrator on-call schedules. Important: This role requires the ability to sit, stand, bend, walk, and lift up to 50 lbs. for the duration of the shift; as well as wear personal protective equipment to include surgical gowns, masks, visors or goggles, and caps. This role is critical to the LifeNet Health mission because it is an important step in taking the donor’s gifts and transitioning them to lifesaving and health restoring allografts for patients around the globe. Requirements

  • Valid State Driver’s License
  • High School Diploma/GED with 4 years of experience at LifeNet Health in Tissue Recovery with 2 years as a Case Lead
  • – or –
  • Associate’s degree in healthcare or a medical related field with 2 years of experience in Tissue Recovery or an associated healthcare field as a supervisor with direct reports

  • Bachelor’s degree (BA/BS): Advanced degree in a science, healthcare, or medical related focus
  • 4 years of work experience at LifeNet Health in Tissue Recovery with 2 years as a Case Lead
  • Enhanced Identification: Valid State Enhanced (or “Real ID”) Driver's License and/or a current passport
  • Certified LEAN Green Belt: Certification offered by LifeNet Health or an external accredited entity
  • Certified Scrub Technician: Current certification from an accredited entity as an Operating Room Scrub Technician, or similar
  • Certified Tissue Bank Specialist (CTBS) from the American Association of Tissue Banks (AATB)

Responsibilities

  • Leadership and Training: Responsible for day-to-day supervision of the Tissue Recovery clinical surgical staff. Ensures all recovery operational shifts and on-call schedules are developed and managed equitably and effectively. Monitors and approves payroll for the Tissue Recovery clinical surgical staff according to schedules and case activity. Assists with the interviewing and selection of new staff for the department. Participate in the development and training of current and newly hired team members. Assists manager with staff performance evaluations and competency assessments. Ensures the staff are proficient in their understanding of current company policies and procedures and maintains oversight of all documentation and record keeping completion, submission, and maintenance. Support and participate in employee recognition and reward.
  • Tissue & Specimen Recovery: Able to function at the level of the Tissue Recovery Case Lead. Participates in all aspects of the clinical tissue recovery cases, including taking an active role in the call schedule as needed. May function as a trainer, preceptor, and/or competency assessor for new hires in training or existing staff advanced training. Expected to regularly observe and audit staff’s performance and adherence to recovery policies during tissue recovery cases. Participates in the Administrator-On-Call (AOC) call schedule for clinical recovery case activities and inquiries.
  • Reporting and Project Management: Develops and maintains Tissue Recovery data reporting systems to provide weekly/monthly/yearly reporting of donor statistics and other information as needed. Ensures timely and accurate completion of recovery records to facilitate tissue throughput for processing and release. Provides oversight for the completion of the Zone Assessment Guide and other audit readiness activities as they relate to assigned activities, environments, and protocols for the tissue recovery department. Participates in departmental and organizational LEAN projects and initiatives.
  • Quality & Continuous Improvement: Ensures quality outcomes of all work performed by self and team. Documents, monitors and provides corrective action of complaints, non-conformances and accidents relating to tissue recovery activities and performance. Assists the Manager with the development of and compliance with departmental policies and procedures as well as compliance with industry standards and regulations. Assists with defining and developing departmental metrics to support the company and departmental goals and objectives. Other duties as assigned.
