About the position

The Supervisor of Surgery Scheduling is responsible for overseeing the surgery scheduling department. The focus of this position is to ensure the ophthalmic patient, physician, and surgical team experience a positive surgical outcome that exemplifies fulfillment of the mission statement at Panorama Eyecare.

Responsibilities

  • Has a strong awareness of patient flow issues and ability to maintain efficient clinical flow.
  • Serves as the staff and patient advocate to ensure optimal patient care.
  • Serves as liaison between clinical and surgical departments.
  • Assists in training new staff members per training protocols.
  • Ensures optimal scheduling of OR time and use, constantly evaluating openings for patients and providers alike.
  • Interfaces with patients and their families to ensure care is consistent with their expectations.
  • Delivers quality care for the patient from pre-operative measurements to pre-operative education and instructions.
  • Serves as a role model and mentors to staff by responding positively to change while supporting colleagues throughout the change process.
  • Ensures compliance with clinical patient care standards, establishes and implements policies.
  • Performs as a team leader creating a collaborative and respectful team environment and maximizing positive workflow.
  • Understands technical ophthalmic skills involved in accurate measurements necessary for an optimal surgical outcome.
  • Educates the patient and their families regarding surgical choices, answers questions and witnesses surgical consents.
  • Engages in new technology and current practices to meet the changing needs of the ophthalmic surgical patient.
  • Works within the confines of the team by assisting other departments with answers to questions, patient triage, etc.
  • Monitors ASC surgical fill rate and surgeries scheduled by team to reports weekly to Operations Manager.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum of 10 years of Ophthalmology experience a must.
  • COA/COT preferred.
  • Excellent organization and communication skills required.
  • Ability to work in a fast past environment.
  • Ability to prioritize and multitask.
