About The Position

Lead by example and strictly enforce all company policies and procedures, drive continuous improvement, and continually ensures safety and environmental standards are never compromised. Ensuring all employees have the proper equipment needed to perform the job (safely and to customer and legal standards). Communicating with management and help with resolving issues or make timely and appropriate business decisions to ensure safe and on-time deliveries and customer satisfaction. Maintaining a proactive professional relationship with other supervisors and the workforce. Ensuring people under his/her control are managed consistently and fairly and free from harassment and any form of discrimination.  All employees should expect clear expectations, training, accountability, and a fair evaluation of their performance. Training and developing employees in proper quality, operating, and safety procedures. Ability to organize the order in which fabricated product is worked on in order to meet delivery dates. Material is received in the shop in order of availability, not always delivery dates, so the workflow must be arranged in a way to complete both what is received and what is required with various levels of priority. The length of the time it takes to produce each piece must also be considered in order to make all delivery dates. Ability to Control the workflow and its influence on production. All employees have strengths and weaknesses, and this must be acknowledged in order to properly pair the right fabricator with the right job. Some workers are more productive than others, and this requires a continual training of less skilled employees to improve overall output.  Follow and execute production/shipping plans that are provided. Ability to take direct instructions from Plant Manager or his/her designee. Ability to distribute work to employees and follow up to ensure instructions are being followed. Recommends disciplinary action to Plant Manager, General Manager, HR, or other designee.  Review and approves weekly Timecard for correct jobs, batches and time. Approves/denies requests for time off from employees. Ensure full compliance in accordance to the Banker Steel Company safety program and 8 cardinal rules as outlined upon employment within the organization.

Requirements

  • Must have steel fabrication knowledge and experience (Welding/Fitting)
  • Experience in forklift, crane and other material handling operation
  • Has managed/supervised crew of more than 20 employees
  • Basic user knowledge and understanding of Windows based computer systems such as Microsoft Office, with an ability to learn another computer-based system.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to establish rapport with persons of diverse backgrounds.
  • Ability to work as a team player in a fast-paced environment, with excellent strong work ethic, attention to detail, organizational and listening skills.
  • Strong ability to pay close attention to detail.
  • OSHA 10 certification
