Job Summary: Coordinates community member engagement activities, family support groups, therapeutic activities and volunteer services. Provides community members with lifestyle engagement activities, group programs and appropriate individual interaction to maximize satisfaction and wellbeing. Supervises and directs the activities of various levels of assigned personnel using both professional and supervisory discretion and independent judgment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent combination of education/related experience: Required
  • Master's Degree: Preferred
  • Five years' technical experience: Preferred
  • Basic Life Support (BLS OR HS-BLS OR RQI BLS) certification: Required

Responsibilities

  • Provides quality services and professional interactions with residents, volunteers and staff.
  • Exercises independent judgment when recruiting, training, coaching, supervising and responsibly directing assigned staff.
  • Attends assigned in-service education programs to learn new procedures and develop skills.
  • Supports changes that improve quality of care, service and operations.
  • Attends mandatory staff meetings.
  • Evaluates, develops, implements and coordinates appropriate individual and group life skills and activity programs, centered around community members and based on therapeutic and recreational needs.
  • Encourages elder resident participation and supervises and supports care partners in the community.
  • Meets regularly with staff to coordinate programming that meets resident needs.
  • Provides guidance and support for care partners and staff.
  • Coordinates in-services and trainings for care staff, utilizing community resources and health care professionals.
  • Coordinates care needs, as needed.
  • Assesses community member functional capacities and interest in daily activities.
  • Participates in weekly care plan meetings and community member assessments, as needed.
  • Documents and responds to changes in conditions.
  • Leads the monthly planning, scheduling, distributing and calendar posting of community programs in both hard copy and online formats.
  • Develops innovative relationships with community resources, adult education institutions, internship programs and volunteer sources to enhance opportunities for creative, cost-effective programming and training.
  • Utilizes and trains volunteers, as needed.
  • Manages program within budget.
  • Works with interns and other departments to enhance programming abilities to address the psychosocial needs of community members.
  • Promotes a safe environment within the community, including fire and accident prevention and safety awareness.
  • Coordinates annual satisfaction surveys for family members and responsible parties.
  • Responds appropriately to results.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
