About The Position

The Supervisor of Sports Nutrition at the Keck Medical Center of USC plays a pivotal role in the nutrition department, working closely with the Director of Sports Nutrition to enhance the health and performance of student-athletes. This position involves overseeing the recruitment and onboarding of new dietitians, interns, and student workers, while also providing mentorship and leadership within the team. The supervisor is responsible for assigning sports and administrative duties, developing and enforcing departmental policies, and collaborating with a variety of stakeholders including physicians, athletic trainers, and coaches to ensure the best nutritional practices are implemented for student-athletes. In addition to leadership responsibilities, the Supervisor of Sports Nutrition is tasked with maintaining and reporting budgets, fostering trade deals with vendors, and collaborating with athletic dining staff to curate meal selections that meet the nutritional needs of student-athletes. The role requires ongoing communication with various departments to address sports nutrition and performance issues, ensuring that all student-athletes receive the support they need to excel in their sports. The supervisor will assist in leading a comprehensive nutrition program that includes fuel access, education, and counseling tailored to the needs of student-athletes across all sports. This includes developing and implementing effective nutrition, meal, and hydration plans, monitoring client nutrition status, and making necessary adjustments based on performance metrics. The supervisor will also be responsible for delivering nutrition education presentations and resources, supporting student-specific assessments, and coordinating care with internal and external stakeholders. Furthermore, the supervisor will maintain a thorough understanding of departmental and university policies, promote an inclusive environment, and stay updated on the latest nutrition trends and products. The role also involves providing leadership regarding nutritional supplements and ensuring that student-athletes with special needs receive appropriate referrals and oversight.
