About The Position

Coordinates clinical pharmacy services to ensure pharmacy team provides optimal clinical services on a daily basis. Facilitates development, implementation, and maintenance of systems that promote desirable patient outcomes through use of safe, appropriate, cost-effective medication therapies.

Requirements

Bachelor of Pharmacy required.
Current License to practice as a Pharmacist in New York State required, plus specialized certifications as needed.
4-6 years of relevant experience and 0-2 years of leadership / management experience, required.

Responsibilities

Promotes Specialty Pharmacy department goals by selecting, motivating, and training capable team members.
Leads the activities of assigned Specialty Pharmacy team members by communicating and providing guidance toward achieving department objectives.
Oversees development, implementation, and maintenance of clinical pharmacy services according to established policies, procedures, and protocols, consistent with government and agency regulations, and in collaboration with organizational goals and objectives.
Selects, develops, manages and evaluates direct reports; collaborates with management team members in selection, development, management and evaluation of indirect reports including pharmacy residents and students, where applicable.
Participates in quality improvement activities of department; collects and analyzes data; maintains documentation of clinical activities.
Facilitates development and implementation of treatment guidelines, protocols, formulary changes, and critical pathways as approved by appropriate committees.
Participates in committees required by organization, and collaborates with other departments to identify needs of the organization and scope of pharmaceutical services required to meet those needs.
Identifies and resolves barriers to medication access (e.g. prior authorizations, financial patient assistance programs).
Documents clinical interventions in accordance with policies and procedures.
Maintains compliance with established procedures, policies, and laws in performing duties of a licensed, registered staff pharmacist.
Plans and coordinates daily operations workflow; evaluates and implements workflow changes to ensure smooth operations.
Performs related duties as required.
