Responsible for the leading the Software Engineering team with design, testing, certification, and ongoing engineering support of all aspects of embedded and application software for FAA certified single engine aircraft and related product offerings. This is a hands-on technical leadership role. You will be writing software and managing a small nimble team of talented aerospace software engineers for specific embedded programs.

  • Lead the software engineering team tasked with design, testing, certification, and ongoing engineering support of aircraft electrical systems.
  • Implement software design methodologies and development processes across all Cirrus projects.
  • Review and guide creation of certification plans and reports to meet 14 CFR Part 23 requirements.
  • Support the Director of Software Engineering with budget planning and control, resource/project planning, and maintaining awareness of key deliverables and schedule milestones.
  • Coach and progress less experienced engineers, manage resource allocation, staffing, and performance reviews.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software, or Electrical Engineering (or equivalent) required.
  • 8+ years total relevant experience.
  • 0-4 years leadership experience leading teams of 5 or more software developers.
  • Experience in aircraft or component level software development and certification to 14 CFR Part 23 using DO-178C and DO-254.
  • Development of company processes for DO-178C and DO-254 certification activities.
  • Development of embedded software applications.
  • Proficient with software development, test, and verification tools.
  • Experience with requirements management tools.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with superiors, colleagues, and staff.
  • Ability to work both independently and within a cross-functional team.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Visio, Project).
  • Demonstrated history of fostering individual engagement and initiative.
  • Driving improvements to engineering process.
  • Implementing design methodologies resulting in superior technical design and enhanced team productivity.
