About The Position

This role is for a Supervisor in the Shred Department, responsible for overseeing department performance with a focus on cost, quality, safety, and employee environment. The supervisor will communicate effectively with department personnel, the Plant Manager, other departments, and all levels of management to ensure smooth operation. Saputo Cheese USA Inc. is a major cheese producer in the USA, known for brands such as Stella, Frigo Cheese, Montchevre, and Treasure Cave, and has a strong foodservice presence. The company operates 59 manufacturing facilities with over 19,400 employees globally, processing about 11 billion litres of milk annually into a diversified range of dairy and dairy alternative products.

Requirements

  • Minimum three years of supervisory experience in a cheese/dairy/food production environment.
  • Working knowledge and proficient with computer programs (i.e. MS Excel, Word, Outlook, Maestro, etc.).
  • Ability to problem solve, perform root cause analysis and make timely, informed decisions.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively supervise, lead and build relationships at all levels within the Company.
  • Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to work rotating 12-hour shifts.
  • Self-motivated; has accurate self insight; builds organizational talent by teaching and coaching; is customer/quality oriented, maintains a positive disposition and is persuasive.
  • Ability to work in a team environment as well as independently with good time management, prioritization, follow-up and organizational skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelors Degree in Dairy Manufacturing, Dairy Science, Food Science or a related field, or equivalent experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Oversees the performance of the department while focusing on Cost, Quality, Safety and Employee Environment.
  • Communicate and interact effectively with the department personnel, Plant Manager, all departments, other plants, support services and all levels of management to ensure the smooth operation of the process.
  • Supervise employees to meet performance expectations by providing strong leadership, decision-making capability and performance coaching.
  • Complete all assigned paperwork, including but not limited to, production records, schedules, safety and other incident reports and investigations, performance reviews and any other paperwork deemed necessary in a timely manner.
  • Promote the plant’s safety programs and policies in order to reduce employee accidents and injuries by providing safety training and enforcing safety practices at all times.
