About The Position

The Supervisor at McLaren Central Michigan is responsible for supervising and coordinating the work of employees who help maintain the safety of people and buildings/facilities. This role involves preparing work schedules, assigning work, and overseeing work activities. The Supervisor may also monitor security equipment, document abnormal occurrences, and train security teams. Additionally, the Supervisor provides input into the development of department policies and procedures, ensuring that employees maintain current knowledge of procedures and assisting in meeting business, financial, customer, service quality, and regulatory requirements.

Requirements

  • Associate degree in criminal justice, business or other related or equivalent experience.
  • Completion of International Association of Hospital Security and Safety Basic Security Officer and Supervisory and Safety training certification programs within the first year of employment.
  • One year security experience in a healthcare facility.
  • Four years of increasingly responsible security experience including some lead supervisory experience.
  • Criminal free record.
  • Valid state driver's license, which meets company's insurance requirements.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree in criminal justice, security administration, or related field.
  • Three years of progressive supervisory experience in a health care environment.

Responsibilities

  • Plans, prioritizes, assigns, supervises, reviews, and participates in the work of staff responsible for security.
  • Establishes schedules and methods for providing security services; identifies resource needs; reviews needs with appropriate management staff; allocates resources accordingly.
  • Accomplishes human resource objectives by selecting, orienting, training, assigning, scheduling, coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees; communicating job expectations; planning, monitoring, appraising job contributions; recommending compensation actions; adhering to policies and procedures.
  • Meets standards by contributing security/safety information to strategic plans and reviews; implements quality and customer-service standards; resolves problems.
  • Participates in the preparation and administration of the security budget; submits budget recommendations; monitors expenditures; submits justifications for equipment; monitors budget expenditures; identifies variances; implements corrective actions.
  • Monitors and controls supplies and equipment; orders supplies and tools as necessary; prepares documents for equipment procurement.
  • Improves function and reliability of security systems by studying performance results; identifies, recommends, and implements changes.
  • Performs the more technical and complex tasks of the work unit as needed.
  • Maintains a safe and healthy work environment by following standards and procedures; complies with legal codes and regulations.
  • Stays current on knowledge of technology, industry trends, and state and federal regulations.
  • Performs other related duties as required and directed.
