Assists the Security Manager in planning, organizing and managing the physical security and life safety functions for Nationwide and its subsidiaries. Assists in developing and managing programs to provide physical security and life safety protection for Nationwide associates. . Job Description Reports to: Security Manager, responsible for 10+ direct report security leads and guards.

Requirements

  • Undergraduate studies in education, business administration, criminal justice, private security, or other related area
  • Six years experience in the private sector of the security industry in a position supervising/managing others, or three years as a full-time, certified law enforcement supervisor.
  • Experience in handling all types of security related emergencies.
  • Must be bondable.
  • Must have a familiarity with all laws governing private security as well as normal security programs for life/safety and property protection.
  • Must be familiar with enterprise security policies and procedures.
  • Proven knowledge with budgeting and project administration.
  • Must have the ability to analyze security situations to determine the safest, most appropriate action.
  • Must be able to conduct risk assessment and recommend security countermeasures.
  • Must be able to supervise security employees in a variety of emergency situations as well as handle high stress situations.
  • Must possess basic law enforcement skills, including communication, first responder techniques, crime scene investigation, care and operation of firearms, and progressive use of force.
  • Must be able to work flexible office hours to include weekends, holidays, special event coverage or emergency situations as needed.
  • Must be in good physical condition without any medical restrictions, which would impair ability to perform assigned duties.
  • This job has been identified as a Safety Sensitive position and in accordance with our substance free work place program may be subject to random alcohol and other drug testing.
  • Due to the fiduciary accountabilities within this job, a valid credit check and/or background check will be required as part of the selection process.

Responsibilities

  • Supervises the duties and responsibilities as well as the operational procedures of the Uniformed Security Officers (Nationwide associates or contract associates).
  • Supervises the planning of security protection for company special events.
  • May provide security, audit, review and recommendations for Nationwide properties.
  • Recommends purchases of security equipment, including security force uniforms, personal equipment, access control, alarm and camera systems.
  • Assists the Security Manager in the development of security and life/safety programs to maintain and/or improve the level of security at all Nationwide properties.
  • Supervises the implementation of security and life/safety programs.
  • Assists in managing the investigation of associate loss/theft reports and develops and maintains programs to minimize internal theft and losses.
  • Provides liaison between law enforcement, the court system, outside educational facilities and outside contract security sources and Corporate Security.
  • Supervises and maintains knowledge of latest state-of-the-art security equipment.
  • Responsible for the management of associates including: performance management, salary planning and administration, training and development, workflow planning, hiring and placement, and disciplinary actions.
  • Assists in maintaining the fire warden and health safety programs.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
