About The Position

This is a fully onsite Supervisor - Sample Management role based at Thermo Fisher Scientific's Global Central Laboratory in Highland Heights, KY. The company welcomes applicants from all locations within the US, but relocation assistance is not provided. Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship and pass a comprehensive background check, including a drug screening. The work schedule is 2nd shift: Tuesday-Saturday, 4:00PM-12:30AM ET. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent and relevant formal academic / vocational qualification
  • Previous experience that provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the job (comparable to 0 to 5 years).
  • High / Secondary school diploma or equivalent and relevant formal academic / vocational qualification
  • 1+ year of leadership responsibility
  • In some cases an equivalency, consisting of a combination of appropriate education, training and/or directly related experience, will be considered sufficient for an individual to meet the requirements of the role.
  • Possess basic understanding of GLP/GCP
  • Familiar with Microsoft Office including Word, Excel and Power Point
  • Familiar with environmental monitoring systems
  • Effective time management and project management skills
  • Have good leadership abilities

Responsibilities

  • Mentor and assess staff through the normal course of their daily duties.
  • Oversee scheduling of sample management staff and assist management with oversight of the department.
  • Perform any or all Sample Coordinator functions, including oversight and execution of a variety of complex standard and sample tasks (receipt, accessioning, routing, storage, aliquoting, shipping, discard, destruction, etc.) in support of the Sample Management department.
  • Oversee the scheduling of sample coordinators and assist management with departmental oversight.
  • Act as back-up in the absence of management and serve as a technical liaison for project-specific sample management procedures.
  • Train, mentor, and assess the needs of the sample management staff.
  • Manage staff training documents, assessments, and records.
  • Respond to environmental unit alarms and participate in on-call responsibilities.
  • Perform work assignments accurately, timely, and safely.
