About The Position

We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented supervisor to help lead safety efforts at the Thacker Pass Project in Nevada. In this vital role, the supervisor will lead safety initiatives, conduct risk assessments and ensure compliance with key regulatory standards. By collaborating with the workforce, other supervisors, and management, the supervisor will contribute to a culture where safety is always first.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of federal, state and company health and safety policies and regulations.
  • Strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Knowledge of MSHA regulations, safety practices and environmental standards for mining.
  • Ability to effectively direct crew members to perform work safely and efficiently.
  • Ability to work with confidential information and situations.
  • Ability to assume responsibilities related to employee development, training and supervision of special projects, including facility construction and equipment outages.
  • Strong leadership and customer relation skills.
  • Knowledge of and experience with MSHA regulations and safety requirements; MSHA IS certification is a plus.
  • Previous supervisory or management experience required.
  • Minimum of five years of mining experience.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to deliver effective presentations.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • A four-year college degree may be substituted with four years of mining experience combined with supervisory experience.

Responsibilities

  • Assist mine management in complying with all federal, state and company safety policies and regulations, providing regular and timely notifications.
  • Coordinate and conduct inspections of all mine site work areas for safety hazards and ensure hazards are promptly corrected.
  • Conduct required health and safety sampling and maintain records.
  • Develop, coordinate and conduct required health, safety and equipment task training and maintain records.
  • Support the investigation of all incidents and report findings.
  • Develop and coordinate training modules and assist with monthly safety meetings as needed.
  • Accompany MSHA inspectors during inspections when possible.
  • Review new mine and contractor equipment to ensure safety requirements and documentation are met.
  • Coordinate contractor safety training to ensure compliance with mine safety and health regulations.
  • Perform job duties in accordance with federal laws and regulations, established company safety procedures, and state and federal environmental regulations.
  • Ability to work in a rotating shift schedule.
  • Conduct and coordinate new miner training, orientation and annual refresher training as needed.
  • Provide supervision and safety training for mine contractors for work being performed at the mine.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
