This job functions independently, supervises department staff and collaborates with the department director in the identification, trending and analysis of clinical quality issues and in a collaborative fashion facilitates resolution of these issues. This job plays a key role in accreditation and survey processes within the organization; and supports medical staff committees as assigned.   • Analyzes medication and other occurrences, cardiopulmonary resuscitation outcomes, falls and other indicators.
  • Participates in various organization committees and councils to provide data analysis, trended reports and direction for Performance Improvement initiatives.
  • Acts as a resource to the organization conducting regularly scheduled Joint Commission Mock Surveys and facilitates organizational continued Joint Commission readiness.
  • Facilitates multidisciplinary analyses such as Root Cause Analysis and Failure Mode Analysis on significant issues to improve processes and outcomes.
  • Represents EOC from Performance Improvement, reports performance Improvement activities to the Quality Resources Director and prepares packets for Physician’s Excellence Committee.
  • Adapts behavior to the specific patient population, including but not limited to: respect for privacy, method of introduction to the patient, adapting explanation of services or procedures to be performed, requesting permissions and communication style.

  • Education Required - Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
  • Bachelor's Degree Science of Nursing (BSN) required for all Ochsner Magnet Facilities.
  • Certifications Required - Current State of Louisiana Registered Nurse License
  • Knowledge Skills and Abilities (KSAs) Must have computer skills and dexterity required for data entry and retrieval of patient information.
  • Must be proficient with Windows-style applications and keyboard.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills and the ability to present information clearly and professionally to varying levels of individuals throughout the patient care process.
  • Knowledge of regulatory and accrediting standards
  • Excellent analytical skills to interpret clinically significant information
  • General knowledge and understanding of the principles and theories of quality management and continuous quality improvement
  • Must be able to travel throughout and between facilities.
  • Education Required - Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
  • Preferred - Bachelor’s degree in nursing.
