Requirements

  • Valid Nevada State Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) License
  • Current BLS (AHA) certificate upon hire and maintain current.
  • Current ACLS (AHA) certificate upon hire and maintain current.
  • Current PALS (AHA) certificate upon hire and maintain current.
  • English language fluency (written and verbal)
  • Perinatal /Pediatric Specialty Certificate from NBRC
  • Current certification in NRP
  • Must have current Instructor Certification in NRP
  • Graduate of JRCTE approved program for Respiratory Therapy, two-year program preferred.
  • Must have two (2) years general experience providing respiratory care in an acute care hospital under medical direction.
  • Must have two (2) years clinical and supervisory experience providing neonatal respiratory care in an autonomous/expanded role in a Level II or Level III NICU.
  • English fluency (written and verbally).
  • Registered Respiratory Therapist certification from the NBRC
  • 2 years Acute care experience
  • NRP certification
  • PALS certification
  • ACLS certification

Responsibilities

  • Leads and directs the technical personnel, activities and equipment of the Adult Cardiopulmonary services:
  • Promotes healing of acutely ill patients whose cardiac or pulmonary systems have been compromised through illness or injury through the provision of respiratory care, diagnostic testing, providing for the psycho-social needs of the patient, and patient education.
  • Encourages and enhances the progression and efficient operation of the Cardiopulmonary Services Department.
  • Treats patients from newborn, pediatrics, adolescents, young, middle, and older adults.
  • When requested, assists day-to-day operations of the Cardiopulmonary Department, referring out-of-the –ordinary issues to the Manager and/or Medical Director, as appropriate.
  • Provides diagnostic testing to the patient to help optimize the total care given.
  • Performs arterial punctures for blood gas analysis; knowledge in the operation, maintenance, troubleshooting and quality control of ABG analyzers.
  • Abilities to use mechanical ventilators, bi-level ventilation equipment, peak flow meters, ability to perform respiratory assessment.
