The Cleveland Clinic Mentor Hospital Respiratory Department combines comprehensive care with innovative research and education. As a Respiratory Therapy Supervisor, you will not only perform respiratory care as needed, but you will provide supervision for an assigned respiratory care staff, ensuring caregivers perform the exceptional work for which our hospitals are renowned. A caregiver in this position works days Monday – Friday 7:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited Respiratory Therapy program
  • Associate's Degree, including a diploma or transcripts for validation
  • Three years of experience in critical care along with leadership, education and/or research activities
  • Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) by the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) and licensed by the Ohio Board for Respiratory Care (RCP)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or the American Red Cross
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) OR the American Red Cross and Neonatal Pediatric Specialist (NPS) through the NBRC within three years of hire
  • Neonatal/pediatric experience
  • Good manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination.
  • Normal hearing and vision or corrected to normal range.
  • May require sitting, standing and walking for extensive periods of time.
  • Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
  • Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work.
  • Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and direct all activities regarding respiratory therapy personnel.
  • Assist with the development of employee schedules, maintain employee records and ensure accurate timekeeping.
  • Take part in employee performance evaluations and give appropriate feedback.
  • Identify and utilize learning resources available within the hospital/community.
  • Assist with the development of an ongoing program of orientation, training and education for new employees and students.
  • Participate in the development and maintenance of a performance improvement program.
  • Write, review and update the Respiratory Therapy policies and procedures.
  • Assist with the development of the departmental budget, ensuring the availability of equipment and supplies.
  • At sites where applicable, perform blood gas puncture and analysis.
  • If designated as a Technical Consultant by the blood gas Laboratory Director, meet minimum qualifications as specified by the CLIA code of federal regulations.
