About The Position

Leads the Transmission Asset Management Relay Field Operations Support team and provides direction and oversight to protection & control activities including the development of relay settings. Maintains a strong focus on delivering projects to support maintenance and construction with quality, schedule, cost efficiency, NERC compliance, reliability and security of the Bulk Electric System.

Requirements

  • Minimum Education: Bachelor's degree in Engineering.
  • Minimum Experience: Minimum of seven (7) years of experience with proven leadership capabilities.
  • Minimum Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Extensive knowledge of relay settings, standards, procedures and processes.
  • Thorough understanding of design, planning, project management, operations and/or construction.
  • Experience in managing/executing O&M and/or capital projects.
  • Strong organizational skills with ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Capable of moving frequently between multiple tasks, while prioritizing conflicting priorities.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  • Strong analytical, problem solving and documentation skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills; team player.
  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint), budgets, financial procedures, and property accounting.

Responsibilities

  • Provides direct supervision to an engineering staff of relay field operations support personnel, including coaching, training, effective resource management, providing technical guidance and quality assurance.
  • Develops and maintains the plan for supporting projects or tasks from development through completion with engineering services.
  • Performs various compliance activities to assess and evaluate compliance with NERC reliability standards. These activities include reporting, self-assessments, audit preparation and participation, development of corrective actions and remediations plans, identifying and correcting potential risks within current processes and procedures driving compliance-related tasks, and educating teams to ensure compliance-related tasks and the impacts thereof are well understood.
  • Develops and maintains technical standards to be applied to projects. Ensures the technical standards are in line with NERC regulatory requirements and standard industry engineering practices.
  • Has system-wide responsibility and actively participates on several jurisdictional teams to enhance communication and coordination within the transmission organization.
  • Supports storm and incident response as a member of the System Incident Command Operations Section staff.
