About The Position

This is where your creativity addresses challenges. Responsible for performance and efficiency of Chemistry Laboratory systems. Leads activities in support of laboratory operations to ensure safe lab operations, effective planning, and regulatory compliance in the testing and analyzing of various chemical products maintaining high standards for product quality and responsiveness to production requirements.

Requirements

  • B.S. degree in Sciences; Chemistry preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience or Master's Degree in Natural Sciences with 1-4 years experience in a Chemistry Laboratory, preferably in the pharmaceutical or medical device industry.
  • Prior supervisory experience preferred.
  • Experience leading teams supporting high throughput testing.
  • Computer literate/knowledge of Microsoft office applications (Word, Excel).
  • Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
  • Strong understanding of laboratory instrumentation.
  • Good documentation skills and knowledge of GDPs (Good Documentation Practices).
  • Able to manage multiple tasks/priorities in a timely manner.
  • Working knowledge of LIMS (or equivalent system) and TrackWise.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to create an environment that values people, encourages trust, teamwork, and open communication through feedback and recognition.
  • Experience leading and writing OOS investigation preferred.
  • Demonstrated Understanding of Atomic Absorption, HPLC, Flame Photometry, and Titrations.

Responsibilities

  • Lead safety efforts in their safety team.
  • Ensure calibration and standardization of lab equipment is done on schedule.
  • Maintain accountability for lab testing standards.
  • Be a subject matter expert for lab equipment, practices, and methods.
  • Lead investigations in the laboratory for OOS (out of specification) or any corrective or preventive actions identified for the laboratory.
  • Work with other departments in the organization to ensure internal and external customer deadlines and requirements are met.
  • Own the building of strong and effective teams within the department.
  • Carry out management responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
  • Participate in the recruiting process in the area which includes interviewing, hiring, and training employees.
  • Hold routine meetings to provide training and communication of employees.
  • Review samples received, log samples, perform releases and enter data into computer database (LIMS).
  • Write, revise and approve Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Participate and/or support internal/external, and regulatory audits as needed.
  • Sustain a clean and safe work environment applying 6S principles.
  • Manage Team working 12 hour shifts 7 days per week.
  • Support lab analysts working on shift.
  • Be on site beyond scheduled shift to support lab team.
